Shown here on a contrasting wenge background. High density and wild grain make this burr difficult to work with. Section sizes are limiting but we have solid timber, veneers and hand cut oysters of oblique/end grain which show the waney edge all round like the photo here. The burrs are random shapes but usually domed or vaguely hemispherical or sometimes elongated hemispherical. Depending on what angle we cut at, a variety of shapes can be produced, though for successive waney edge veneers they will always be a slightly smaller than the previous veneer cut since we work/slice through the burr from the widest surface first.
